Checked your windscreen wipers? Summer rains are on their way

Checked your windscreen wipers? Summer rains are on their way 9 months, 9 driving tips – When should pregnant women stop driving? Johannesburg – Summer is just on the horizon and now is the perfect time to get your car summer-ready, says Pieter Niemand, Director of the Motor Industry Workshop Association (MIWA). Niemand said: “Why wait until you are caught in the first spring rains to realise that your windscreen wipers are old and need to be changed. Get pro-active and check your vehicle now so you are prepared for the weather changes ahead.”   He suggests checking your windscreen wipers, air conditioning unit, oil and tyres. He says: “Windscreen wipers age and perish. It’s important to check your windscreen wipers regularly and not to settle for below-par wipers. Only the edge of the wiper should touch the windscreen – so check whether this is the case with your wipers. “Also there shouldn’t be cracks or tears in the blades and the blades should be securely fastened to the wiper. If in doubt go to your local accredited workshop and ask your mechanic to check the blades. Wipers are relatively inexpensive but make all the difference between clear visibility and an accident waiting to happen.”  Niemand also suggests getting your air conditioning unit checked. He suggests: “Many drivers don’t make use of their air conditioning units during the winter months so there may be a build up of dirt that could block and hamper the performance of the unit. “Along with that a leak could have developed, resulting in low or no pressure, or the unit could be low on refrigerant. “A bad fuse, a wiring problem or broken AC switch might also be to blame so ask your mechanic to check the unit if you suspect there is a problem. It’s well worth getting the unit checked before the summer heat hits.” An oil change and inspection of the state of the vehicles tyres is also an essential.  Niemand said: “Budgeting for a service ahead of the December rush is key. During December there are many other expenses that crop up and the thought of additional expenses at that time for car maintenance can be daunting for car owners. Now is the time to plan a service and budget accordingly.” He suggests using an accredited aftermarket workshop for your vehicle’s service. He concludes: “By using an accredited workshop, you can be assured that the work is guaranteed. It may be tempting to opt for a cheaper route, such as a road-side air conditioner repair offer at a reduced rate, but ultimately you may end up paying more for a bad job to be corrected. If you are unsure whether your local workshop is accredited ask to see the accreditation certificate or contact an industry body such as MIWA.”

Tips To Help You Find The Right Car

It can be a stressful experience when you are shopping for a car. Since there are so many options, shopping for a car can be overwhelming. Use the following advice to help make car shopping less stressful.

Do not let a dealer talk you into buying more car than you can afford. It is imperative to stay firm and in control while car shopping. Remember that the salesman wants his commission!

A car loan may be secured on the web before you even go to the dealer. One reason car purchases take so long is because of the whole financial part. If you have a loan when walking in, it will make the process quicker.

The Internet is a goldmine of promotions and special deals. The Internet will save you a lot of money. Look for the ideal vehicle and contact different dealerships to find out whether or not they have this vehicle available. You can save money by just going to the dealership yourself, as long as it’s not that far away.

Don’t ever pay the full price for your car. Sticker price is an over-inflated amount they don’t think anyone will pay. If you don’t think you can properly negotiate, bring along someone who can. You must know what the fair market value of the vehicle you want is before you set foot in the dealership.

Get the advice from trusted family and friends. Are they satisfied with their cars? Do they have any tips for you? Are they hearing great things about different cars? When you would like to purchase a vehicle, this is one method of getting some important information to get you started.

Budget setting is to be done before you arrive on the lot. As you shop, avoid exceeding your budgeted amount despite the salesperson’s representations. The salesman is not the person that make six years worth of car payments.

If you aren’t confident you can resist high-pressure sale pitches, do not go car shopping alone. Bring a relative or friend along to help negotiate prices and remember important questions. You need to let your partner know about your budget and your needs before you hit a dealership.

Call the bank to see if you can get the financing you need for the vehicle you are interested in. This is important for your security. Usually the finance department at the dealership can find you a better rate than your bank, but it is a good idea to know what interest rate you are looking at before shopping.

Don’t drive your really expensive car to the dealer when you’re looking to buy another car. The dealer will take one look at your vehicle and refuse to work with you on negotiating a lower price. The only time this is a good idea is if you are planning to trade in such a vehicle.

You should not mention trade-ins, incentives or down payments until you have negotiated and received the price you wanted on your ideal vehicle. These items should all be subtracted from the rock bottom price. If you negotiate a deal before you talk about any extras, you will receive a much better deal.

Consider renting a car just to test drive them. If you really desire to get a good feel for your potential vehicle, an extended rental is the way to go. Test drive the vehicle with your family and test different speeds so that you can figure out whether this vehicle is right for you. This is an ideal way to determine if you’re comfortable with a vehicle before buying one.

This will help you shop for a car with less stress. Remember these tips when you embark on the car buying journey. Not only will your financial needs be met, but you will end up with a car to be proud of.

Best Money Saving Strategies When Purchasing Your Next Vehicle

You need to buy a new car! That’s wonderful. However, did you know the errors that many car buyers make? You’ll find that this article is packed with the knowledge you need to make smart, rational decisions during the process of shopping for a car.

A car loan may be secured on the web before you even go to the dealer. This will remove the financing hassle from the process. By having a loan in hand in advance, the whole process is sure to move fast.

Set up financing for your vehicle prior to visiting the dealership. You can do this through your local credit union or bank. This yields better rates, and a more educated purchase.

When negotiating, concentrate on the final price rather than the monthly payments. A dealer can make any desired monthly price possible, but you’ll end up paying that monthly price for years and years, making the final cost of the car outrageous. Instead, think about getting the best price you can on the full price, as well as the financing. Then you can figure out monthly payments.

If you are considering buying a vehicle from a private seller, you should first ask your mechanic to go over it. If the seller objects, this is cause for real concern. There may be extensive problems the owner is trying to hide. You should not buy it without knowing more.

You may be at the car lot for a good amount of time when trying to buy a car. You should not purchase a vehicle if you feel rushed and do not have time to think about your decision. You should set aside the entire afternoon for that. If you are really short on time, do not be afraid to leave and come back another day.

Get the advice from trusted family and friends. Are they happy with the car choices they made? Would they rather have a different model? Do they know something you do not know about a particular car? If you are considering a vehicle purchase, this can be helpful in terms of beginning your own research.

You should not mention trade-ins, incentives or down payments until you have negotiated and received the price you wanted on your ideal vehicle. They should come out of the lowest price available. Negotiating first can get you a better price, and then you can discuss these little “extras.”

Find out whether there are any upcoming car shows nearby. This is an excellent opportunity to explore your options. You can compare so many different makes and models all at once. Additionally, you have the opportunity to be surrounded by car experts. After spending time at the car show, you will have a clearer picture of what it is that you want.

This first thing you should do when you are considering purchasing a car is figure out what your budget is. You must understand exactly how much you can afford. You should establish a monthly budget for your car payments and your insurance. Before looking at cars, you may want to shop around for a loan.

You may have your dream car in mind, but you might not locate exactly what you want. There may be options that you would like to have that aren’t offered. If you are not able to have heated seats, your driving experience will not be destroyed.

Tell the dealer that you want a mechanic to take a look at a prospective car. This mechanic needs to be one you can trust. Never use one recommended by the car dealer. The mechanic will be there to tell you if the car can be on the road and if the price is right.

Make sure you read everything before you sign it. Before you blindly start signing contracts on the dotted line, read the entire contract start to finish. Once a contract is signed, you will be legally bound to this document. If you are uncomfortable reading the contract at the dealership, ask to take it home to look it over in your own time. If you can’t take the contract home with you, request a copy of it or a purchase agreement that you can read over.

When you found a car that you’d like to look at, make sure to go over it well. Look over the outside of the car to make sure you don’t miss any major scratches or dents. Review the interior surfaces for burns, stains or rips. Remember that once you purchase a car, it’s yours. You will be responsible for all chips, rips, scratches and window cracks.

Don’t sign any as-is warranty for a used car. You’ll regret it afterwards if you do. Any competent dealer will offer warranties that cover a 30 to 90 day time frame. If your engine or transmission is destroyed on the day that you buy the vehicle, then you are going to be the one responsible for fixing the repair.

Sales staff want to make a big commission. That’s a given, but don’t forget that while negotiating. So watch out for the add-ons and extras that may find their way into your sale. Even a car that’s cheap can get additions that cost quite a bit of money.

Consider a car’s fuel economy whenever looking for a new car. A fuel efficient car may cost more in the beginning, but it will save you a lot of money over the life of the car. Think about this when you select your car.

Don’t accept a new car’s sale price based on how much you think your trade-in might be worth. Research its value before shopping. This way, you’ll know how much you can reasonably expect to get for your old car.

Learn as much as you can before you go. Visit webpages that have auto comparisons and look at car magazines to see which car is best for your specific needs. You’ll get approximate prices, and features which are either standard or extra. This research will give you vital information to help you get the best deal.

As you know, there are many potential pitfalls to avoid when buying a new vehicle. Be certain to apply the tips in this piece in order to have a completely satisfying experience. Begin your search for your car today!

Tips For A Great Car Shopping Experience

It may have been hard for you to get a good price for your car in the past, but no longer. It’s about time you take in some information that helps you get the best deal. You won’t have to get something that you are just settling for anymore.

Do not let a dealer talk you into buying more car than you can afford. Salespeople will try talking you into buying a luxury or a sports car by telling you this car corresponds to your personality. Remember that the salesperson’s goal is to earn a good commission, so he or she benefits when you are convinced to purchase a pricier vehicle.

Have your loan financing already arranged prior to shopping for a car. You can accomplish this with a trip to your bank or nearby credit union. They often have better interest rates and you can walk into a lot knowing you can pay for the car you want.

If you are purchasing a car from a private party, have your mechanic take a look at the car before you buy it. If the seller objects, this is cause for real concern. There may be extensive problems the owner is trying to hide. You want information before you buy into these.

When you are car shopping, you need to make sure it has plenty of the most important safety features. You must make sure you have ABS or antilock brakes. Air bags are also important. Safety is important since you will be in this vehicle a lot.

Get the price settled before looking into additional incentives or trade-ins. This will be taken care of after the fact. You will probably get a much better price if you start by negotiating and then mention these additional discounts.

Don’t feel locked into one dealer or dealership. You have many options, including private sellers or smaller dealerships. Even social media can be a good way to find the perfect price point for the car you want.

Be careful about giving out a social security number. Many dealers will attempt to get this from you right away in order to run a credit check. You have to realize that the process of checking your credit can ultimately damage your score, so be careful in this respect. Iron out a deal before you let anyone run your credit.

Although you may have a wish list of features, it is important to keep in mind that you might not find all of them in one car. You may not find the car of your dreams, or you may not be able to afford a car with all the extras. If you are not able to have heated seats, your driving experience will not be destroyed.

Not all dealerships and salespeople are identical. Although car salesmen are known for being bossy, this tactic is not as popular as it once was. Most dealerships realize that by keeping the customer happy, they will have repeat business. If you find yourself with a pushy salesperson, don’t be afraid to walk away. There are a lot of nice salespeople out there that will be more than happy to assist you.

Remember that a salesman wants nothing more than to earn commission and meet a quota. Therefore, exercise good judgement when making a deal. Watch out for the add-ons and extras that might get attached to the purchase price. You can end up with a huge bill, otherwise.

Make sure you look for rebates prior to getting a vehicle. Some dealerships offer rebates in order to sell a car quickly. Less ethical dealerships won’t even mention a rebate and then they will take the cash back themselves without you ever knowing.

Look into the “hidden” expenses associated with buying that car. Fuel economy details, upkeep costs, and insurance costs are factors which can vary among different vehicles. Check out the miles per gallon and some of the maintenance charges you will have to face. These hidden costs can really impact the total cost of a car.

It is always good to research and invest in vehicles that are known to be reliable. Nothing’s worse than buying a cheap car and then spending a fortune in repairs over the next several months. Look at online reviews for the best vehicle for your needs.

When you are getting ready to buy a car and you believe you will be able to get a loan from a bank, go for it! This helps to save a lot of money in the long run for your purchase. The interest rate charged by the bank will be minimal in comparison.

If you are dealing with a used vehicle, make sure you have a qualified professional look over it before you buy it. This will let you know if there is anything thing wrong with the mechanical or electrical aspects of that certain car. When you do find a problem, have the price reduced or skip the purchase altogether.

You may want to consider leasing. Since used cars are selling at higher prices, you won’t pay as much to lease a car each month that is projected to still be fairly valuable in a few years. You may even locate a zero money down lease to sweeten the deal.

Do you feel better about the car buying process? You are now ready to make the choice. You should not be worried about getting confused or being bullied into a deal. You know what the truth is and you’re ready to fight for your car-buying rights.
